General Rules About Application and Acceptance Of Foreign Students Who Pay For Their Education

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY!

 

* Assessment, Selection and Placement Centre (OSYM) has not been holding the  Examination for Foreign Students for Higher Education Programs in Turkey (YOS), which is used to place foreign students to institutes of higher education, since 2011. Gazi University does not hold an examination for foreign students to place them to associate or bachelor’s degrees or it does not accept the exam results of other universities.

‘International students’ applications, acceptance and registrations are conducted in accordance with our University Senate’s guidelines.

 

  APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

1-  Foreign nationals,

2- Blue card owners are native-born Turkish nationals that have ceased to be a citizen by courtesy of the Ministry of Interior and their minor children registered in the document of expatriation, provided that they can certify that they hold the official document for the use of rights defined in the Turkish Citizenship Law (Due to the provision in Article 7 of 5901 numbered Turkish Citizenship Law (1) A child born within marriage to a mother or father with Turkish citizenship either within or outside Turkey is a Turkish citizen.”, applicants for foreign student admissions should examine the Turkish Citizenship laws),

3- Dual citizens who acquire T.C citizenship – acquiring T.C citizenship while being a foreign national,

4- a) T.C citizen went on their high school education in a foreign country before 01/02/2013 and completed the last three years of their high school education in a foreign country other than TRNC (including the ones that have completed the entire high school education at a Turkish school under supervision of National Ministry of Education in a foreign country other than TRNC),

b)  For the international student admission quotas, those candidates who began their high school education abroad after 01/02/2013, and completing their entire high school education in a foreign country other than the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (including those who completed their entire high school education in a Turkish school under MEB in a foreign country other than the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus)

5- Are nationals of TRNC that reside in TRNC, and have completed their high school education in TRNC and have taken GCE AL exam, and that have received education in a high school in another country between 2005 and 2010 and have taken GCE AL exam will be accepted. 

Those meeting above requirements can apply as a foreign student.

 

THE VALID EXAMS, DIPLOMAS AND ACCEPTANCE CRITERIA FOR APPLICATION

Candidates must submit one of the below documents for application:

1- To have the minimum score determined by our University Senate from the International Baccalaureate IB.

3- A gold, silver or bronze medal in the International Science Olympiads recognized and participated by TUBITAK (The Scientific and Technical Research Council of Turkey).

Important Notes for Exams, Diplomas and Acceptance Criteria for Application:

1- International exam results (SAT, ACT) that will be submitted for application are valid for two years.

2- Cambridge International GCE- AL/ ASL Exams, International Baccalaureate IB and medals in the International Science Olympiads are valid with any date.

3- Candidates applying with their GCE AL/ASL results must submit their final results. Estimated scores are not valid.

4- Candidates who want to study at a program whose medium of instruction is English must have exams and scores determined by ‘Foreign Language Exams Test Equivalence’ of Assessment, Selection and Placement Centre (OSYM).

Candidates who do not have the minimum score determined by OSYM will take the foreign language exam held by Gazi University. The dates of the foreign language exams will be announced on the same date with the evaluation results of foreign students’ applications.

5- The medium of instruction at our university is Turkish and English.

* Candidates who do not provide the conditions- even if they are placed to a program and registered- will be deregistered.

 

APPLICANTS WHOSE APPLICATIONS ARE NOT VALID

1- Are Turkish nationals and completed the entire high school education in Turkey or TRNC

2- Hold nationality of TRNC (excluding the ones that completed their entire high school education in TRNC and taken GCE AL exam, and have received education in a high school in another country between 2005 and 2010 and have taken GCE AL exam),

3- Ones who are defined in paragraph 2, sub article (a) of the article B in Basis of the Higher Education Council of the International Student Admission (exception who prove the conditions in paragraph 4 of article a)

4- Hold dual nationality, one of which is TRNC (excluding the ones that completed their entire high school education in TRNC and taken GCE AL exam, and received education in a high school in another country between 2005 and 2010 and have taken the GCE AL exam),

5- Are Turkish nationals and completed their high school education in schools affiliated with the embassies in Turkey and foreign high schools in Turkey, or hold dual nationality and the first nationality is Turkish as defined in paragraph 2 of article a will not be accepted. 

6- The application of ones who are expelled from an institute of higher education for disciplinary action in Turkey are not accepted.

 

 the evaluatıon of applıcatıons, results and regıstratıon

1- Students will not be accepted by YOS Examination for Foreign Students for Higher Education Programs in Turkey in the academic year 2018-2019. The valid Exams/ Diplomas and the criteria on the minimum scores table that are announced will be accepted.

2- The candidates’ applications will be evaluated by a commission established by Gazi University Presidency. Gazi University has the initiative to decide not to fill the quotas. 

3- Meeting the application criteria does not guarantee admission to the programs. The evaluation will be done according to the students’ ranking of scores in a grade conversion - in a scale of 100-

4-   The applications that are evaluated by the committee will be announced as ‘final acceptance’ or ‘ not accepted’ by the University

5- Candidates applying for programs that accept students by Special Talent Examination must be successful at the Special Talent Exam that will be held by the University as well. The evaluation of the applications are conducted in accordance with the special talent examination regulations.

6- The candidates that are accepted to Associate or Bachelor’s degrees will be announced by Registrar’s Office on gazi.edu.tr

 

HOW TO APPLY  

Applications to Associate and Bachelor’s degrees for international students are made online (international.gazi.edu.tr).

 All the communication related to the applications will be carried out via e-mail. Thus candidates need to use a valid e-mail address to enter the system.

It is recommended that you use Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox while filling out the application form.

All the documents required for the application must be notarized within Turkey or certified by a Turkish Foreign Representative abroad.  It must be uploaded to the application system in Turkish or English and pdf or picture-jpg- format. The maximum limit for each upload is 2 MB (2048KB)

Completing the application means accepting the fact that the information provided is correct and accurate. It is the applicant’s responsibility to ensure that all the documents are complete. Applications that do not meet the application criteria will not be evaluated.

 

The online application system is available to create or complete an application only during application dates; however, system is open to access after the application dates, it is not possible to make an application.

 

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS*

1- The document showing the minimum acceptable score from the exam result that the candidate will submit,

2- The pages of the credentials of the candidate’s passport and its validity period,

3- The candidate’s high school diploma or interim graduate certificate,

4- The candidate’s official transcript of high school courses and grades (transcript),

5- An Equivalence Certificate of high school diploma (from the provincial directorate for national education in Turkey or from Turkish Foreign Representatives abroad),

6- The photograph should be 4.5x6 cm. in size, colored, and taken in the last 6 months, 

7- The receipt showing that the application fee (100 dollars/ 100$) is paid. (The application process will not be completed unless the receipt is uploaded to the system),

* The applicants who gain the right for exact registration will be asked to provide the original copies of the documents they have submitted.

NECESSARY DOCUMENTS FOR EXACT REGISTRATION

1- Notorized identity register copy from notaries or Turkish foreign representatives for T.C nationals.

2-  For applications made by native-born Turkish nationals that have ceased to be a citizen by courtesy of the Ministry of Interior and their minor children (Blue Card Holders), the candidate’s document proving that the rights given by the Law no 5203 that is certified by Turkish foreign representatives and official certified copy of their identity certificate.

3- Candidates that are foreign citizen by birth and have became dual citizen by gaining T.C citizenship must present a sample of their official identity card and the document showing the date of their gaining Turkish citizenship related to their foreign and Turkish citizenships approved by Turkish foreign representatives.

4- The original copy of the exam result or diploma used for application and the notarized copy of the Turkish translations of these documents from Turkish foreign representatives or notaries in Turkey.

5- The original copy of the candidate’s high school diploma or interim graduation certificate and the notarized copy of the Turkish translations of these documents from Turkish foreign representatives or notaries in Turkey.

6- The candidate’s official transcript showing the courses and grades and the notarized copy of the Turkish translations of these documents from Turkish foreign representatives or notaries in Turkey.

7- The equivalence certificate of high school diploma- gained abroad- taken from Turkish foreign representatives abroad or provincial directorate for national education in Turkey.

8- The candidate’s Turkish proficiency document, if available.

9- Financial Guarantee Letter certifying that their economic status is eligible for their study

10- 6 photos of the candidate 4.5x6 cm. in size, colored, and taken in the last 6 months

 

THE DATES OF EXACT REGISTRATION WILL BE ANNOUNCED ON THE SAME DATE WITH THE RESULTS OF THE ACCEPTANCE OF FOREIGN STUDENTS

 

 

* The original copies of the documents must be submitted during the exact registration

* Official acceptance letter will be sent to candidates who gained the right for exact registration but cannot get a student visa – students need to inform the university-

* The amount of financial security deposit and how to document it will be determined by the university.

* Accepted candidates take Turkish Proficiency test before start of academic year. Candidates who get C1 or higher level score start their programs at university. Candidates whose proficiency levels are not sufficient will be registered to TÖMER. TÖMER attendees will take another Turkish Proficiency Test after a successful year long Turkish course. Attendees who get C1 or higher level score will start their programs at university. Attendees whose  Proficiency levels are not sufficient will have an extra one year to pass the Proficiency Test. TÖMER attendees’ course fee is not included in tuition fees. Students whose programs are not in Turkish also should get B1 level score from Turkish Proficiency Test within first 2 years. Accepted from Turkish Proficiency Test will be dismissed from the university.

 

* Tuition fees and contribution margins are determined by our University’s related Board in accordance with the regulations announced by the Council of Ministers. After the determination of the fees by the related Board, it will be announced from our university’s webpage gazi.edu.tr
